About Me

KANO, June 2026

Hi, my name is Beaven Ankner-Edelstein and I am a huge nerd about science.

Kano Therapeutics

I have worked in platform development and strain engineering at Kano Therapeutics for the past four years. There I developed a host of new strains, production methods, and assays for the fermentation production of cssDNA. I engineered an 1100x increase in production yields of the system while eliminating contaminants, enabling the production of highly complex sequences, and preparing GMP-ready strains. My work has included extensive assay development and molecular biology including developing novel cloning methods. I am so lucky to have had Christian Burns and Greg Foley as my mentors in this time.

Trinity Graduation, October 2022

Trinity College Dublin

I studied at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland from 2018-2022 at the Smurfit Institute of Genetics. There I had the chance to cut my teeth on science and biology. I mined databases with Professor Seamus Martin, explored gene therapy with Professor Gwyneth Farrar, and completed my thesis work on GWAS analysis of ALS sub-phenotypes with Professor Russell McLaughlin.
